How do I verify a backup?
Plug in your card and your backup drive (a USB-C hub works great). In FolderSure pick the card folder as Source, the backup folder as Destination, and tap Verify Copy. Every file is hashed on both sides and compared — missing, changed, or unreadable files are listed by name.
What is Verified Copy?
FolderSure copies your files itself, then reads every byte back from the destination and compares hashes before calling a file done. It is the safest way to offload a card.
When can I erase my card?
The erase option only appears after a 100% verified pass. You must type ERASE and confirm, and FolderSure re-checks every file at the moment of deletion — if anything changed since the pass, it refuses. FolderSure never touches unverified files.
My verification says Incomplete — what now?
The drive disconnected or the app was closed mid-scan. Reconnect the same drives and tap Resume on the banner — FolderSure continues where it stopped. An interrupted job is never reported as verified.
Can my Mac check the exported checksums?
Yes. Export the .sha256 file, then in Terminal run shasum -c yourfile.sha256 inside the backup folder. Every line should print OK.
Which drives work?
Anything the Files app can open: SD cards through a reader, USB-C SSDs, USB sticks, and local folders. iPhone 15 or newer and all USB-C iPads support external drives directly.
Privacy Policy
Effective 20 July 2026
FolderSure collects no data. None.
- The app makes zero network requests — it contains no networking code, no analytics, no tracking, no ads, and no third-party SDKs.
- Your files are read only to compute checksums, entirely on your device. File contents, names, and results never leave your iPad or iPhone.
- Verification receipts and manifests are stored locally in the app's Documents folder, under your control. Deleting the app deletes them.
- No account is required and none can be created.
Because no data is collected, there is nothing to sell, share, or breach. If this policy ever changes, the change will be listed here and in the App Store privacy label before it takes effect.
